Aval upma (version 2)
Step 1: Heat oil and add
mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, some curry leaves, 1 chopped green chilli
and sauté for 30 seconds and add 3 chopped onions, sauté until raw smell of
onion goes.
Step 2: wash thick aval or
flattened rice and drain the water completely and add it to the sautéed onions
and mix well by adding pinch of turmeric powder and salt as needed .cook for 3
to 4 minutes and add ½ cup of grated coconut to it .sauté well and cook for 5
minutes in low flame.
Remove from heat, Garnish with coriander
leaves and serve hot.
