Curry leaves powder or karuvapillai podi
Hello
all, today I am going to share a very simple recipe Curry leaves powder or
karuvapillai podi.I used to keep stock in my kitchen these podi varieties like
karuvapillai podi or curry leaves podi ,parupu podi etc ..
Whenever
I feel bored to cook an elaborate lunch, I will prepare steamed rice and add
one spoon of gingerly oil to it and mix one or two spoons of my karuvapillai
podi or parupu podi and eat along with applam or vathal/vadagam.It will taste awesome.
Today
I am going to post the method to make easy and quick karuvapillai podi or curry
leaves powder.
Sure
when I get time I will post the recipe to prepare parupu podi or dal powder.

see how to prepare curry leaves powder with step by step pictures,
Curry leaves powder
or karuvapillai podi
Preparation
time: 5 minutes,cooking time : 10 mins
Cuisine:
Indian – Tamil Nadu style.
Needed:
Curry leaves or
karuvapillai : 1 cup (tightly packed)
Urad dal : ½ cup
Channa dal or kadalai
parupu: ½ cup
Red chilli: 5 to 6 (I
used gundu milagai ,you can also use the neeta milagai)
Salt : as needed
Method:
Step 1: keep all
the ingredients needed handy. Heat ¼ spoon
of oil ,add 1 cup of curry leaves(wash before an hour the leaves and set it dry)
, sauté well for 2 minutes or sauté until the leaves starts to change color. Remove
the curry leaves from the kadai and
place it to a wide plate.
Step 2: Now on the same kadai add ½ cup of urad dal and sauté
until the dal turn golden brown color.remove from kadai and place it on the same
plate where we kept those sautéed curry leaves.
Step 3: add ½ cup of channa dal and sauté until dal turns
golden brown as shown in the picture below,now remove from heat and place it on
the same plate.
Step 4: Now at last add 5 to 6 red chilies and sauté for
1 min in medium heat and place it on the same plate.
Step 5: Now add all those sautéed Ingredients, salt to a
blender or a mixee and grind well without adding water to a smooth powder.
Store the curry leaves powder in a air tight container,
You can use it for about a month.Mix the powder along with gingerly oil and
steamed rice and enjoy the curry leaves powder or karuvapillai podi ‘s
fantastic taste…..
