Sweet And sour chutney for Chaat

Sweet chutney is often required to make some kind of chaat like masala puri chaat ,dahi vada and etc .Sweet sour chutney is made using tamarind, dates, jaggery. This chutney can be prepared and stored in a refrigerator for about one month for any time use.
Let’s see the recipe to make sweet and sour chutney in simple steps below,




Sweet and sour chutney for chaat
Prep Time: 5 mins / cooking time: 10 minutes
Cuisine: North Indian / Category: snacks
Serves: 8 to 9 (1 cup)
Needed:

Tamarind extract: ¼ cup

Dates: 8 to 9 pieces (seed removed and finely chopped)

Jaggery: lemon size

Red chilli powder: 1/2 spoon

Dry ginger powder: 1/4 spoon (optional)

Roasted cumin powder: ½ spoon



Method:
Step 1: heat pan, add tamarind extract, sauté for 5 second, add dates, sauté again for 10 second, add jaggery and sauté for 30 seconds, add dry ginger powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
Step 2: cook the mixture for 7 min in low to medium flame
Step 3: turn off the flame and strain the mixture in a soup strainer.
Step 4: now bring the sweet chutney to room temperature and store it in a air tight container.
