SWEET APPAM

SWEET APPAM
Appam is a traditional South Indian sweet. It is made during festivals & poojas. It is mildly sweet .Appam is favorite of kids .It is very easy to prepare.

NEEDED:


Maida (all purpose flour ) - 1 cup, Jaggery ( vellam) - 1 cup , Cardamon powder - 1 tsp.1/2 cup rava.(or Semolina)
TO MAKE:
STEP1: Take the powdered jaggery in a vessel & add 1/2 cup of water. Heat it till the jaggery dissolves in the water. Strain it & allow it to cool.
STEP2: Then slowly add the maida ,rava(or Semolina) & stir it constantly so that it doesn't form any lumps. Add the cardamom powder in to it and mix it well . The batter should be in pouring consistency but not watery. Close the vessel and let it set for 4 to 5 hrs ,so that the appam will be soft and crispy.

STEP3: Heat oil in a kadai . Take the batter in a small ladle & pour it in the hot oil. Fry it well on both sides. Tasty appam is ready.
